Executive Director, Philadelphia Academy of School Leaders
Posted by Philadelphia Academy of School Leaders on November 27, 2017
The Philadelphia Academy of School Leaders (“School Leaders”) seeks a results-oriented, dynamic, and entrepreneurial leader as its next Executive Director. Philadelphia has experienced a city-wide resurgence in community and economic growth over the past decade. To sustain and accelerate this progress, city schools must deliver compelling educational opportunities to the 225,000 students in its public, charter, and faith-based schools. As Philadelphia aspires to be an exemplar of successful urban education, School Leaders serves as a critical partner and leadership development hub, developing the city’s most talented educational leaders in an effort to foster greater student success. At this dynamic moment in the history of both Philadelphia and School Leaders, the Executive Director position presents an exciting opportunity to contribute profoundly to improving the academic success of the city’s school children.
Driven by a sense of urgency to improve educational quality for Philadelphia’s school children, the Neubauer Family Foundation, University of Chicago’s Urban Education Institute, and a coalition of diverse and influential local stakeholders created School Leaders in 2015 to serve as a cross-sector leadership development resource. With the conviction that effectively trained school leaders can maximize student success, the organization meets the needs of leaders at multiple stages of their careers: from aspiring to practicing principals, and from teacher to school and sector leaders. Its results-driven, evidence-based approach provides tools, skills, and networks needed to inspire high levels of student achievement.
School Leaders is positioned for greater impact, and the next Executive Director will lead from a position of strength, building upon the organization’s robust programming and committed stakeholder network to set an ambitious vision for the future of educational leadership development in Philadelphia. The successful candidate will possess experience leading in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment; a management style that prioritizes accountability and rigor; strong relationship building skills; a track record of creating and implementing programs with tangible, measurable results; and familiarity with the opportunities and challenges of urban school systems.
