21st Century Community Learning Centers Site Director

With multi-year grant awards from 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC), Public Health Management Corporation (PHMC) has partnered with Tilden Middle School, Longstreth Elementary / Middle School, John Bartram High School, Frankford High School, Martin Luther King High School, and The Bridge program in Philadelphia to provide dynamic, hands-on Out-of-School Time (OST) Programs that provide reading, writing, math, and science support through engaging, project-based, student-centered learning on the middle school level and technology and engineering focused programming to 9th-12th grade students on the high school level. The middle school programs serve approximately 266 students throughout the school year and summer. The high school program serves approximately 416 students throughout the school year and summer.
The OST programs will feature a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) focus through a club model, including: Expressions Club, Entrepreneurs’ Club, Explorer’s Lab Club, Chess, Scrabble and Debate Club, and an Urban Garden Club. Additionally, the program will provide opportunities for physical activities and direct instruction and tutoring.
The high school approach encompasses several key components including: credit-bearing coursework in the technology and allied health sectors; summer programming that addresses specific workforce skills with associated industry-recognized certificates; career and college readiness training addressing 21st Century skills; and credit recovery through an engaging and personalized blended-learning model so that students graduate on time and continue on their path to college and career success.
The 21st CCLC Site Director reports directly to the 21st CCLC Program Director and will work with other PHMC staff as well as school leadership and administration to develop and design the program; recruit and supervise staff; recruit and retain students; coordinate with school teachers to create a powerful program to engage young people.
The successful candidate is one who thrives in an environment of both autonomy and teamwork and who will develop relationships with the school, parents, and community based providers to build and sustain a high quality, high impact program
