Philadelphia FIGHT is an AIDS Service Organization that recently became a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). Our goal is to end the AIDS epidemic within the lifetime of people living with HIV now. This position is in FIGHT’s Education Department, which offers a wide range of educational, psychosocial, and risk-reduction programming for youth and adults living with HIV and those at high risk.
The Project TEACH Peer Education Coordinator will be chiefly responsible for supervising FIGHT’s peer education program team of 8-10 Peer Educators. This includes but is not limited to coordinating community education activities, providing and referring trainings, executing disciplinary actions, developing and recruiting professionals to mentor participants, and researching certification programs and other professional development opportunities within the broad scope of community health to support each peer’s professional development goals for the program. Additionally, this position will work closely with the other TEACH Coordinators to identify and develop potential candidates for the Peer Education program who may need additional support to succeed.
The Project TEACH Peer Education Coordinator will also share responsibility for the facilitation of Philadelphia FIGHT’s signature education program for people living with HIV, Project TEACH. This will include teaching lessons in each of the TEACH classes as well as providing support to participants throughout the duration of their involvement in the program.
Project TEACH is an 8 week class that is taught 4 times per year, and covers a wide range of treatment, advocacy, and psychosocial topics.
The Project TEACH Peer Education Coordinator, will play a supportive role in the coordination of TEACH alumni programming for graduates of Project TEACH, which meets monthly and the Community Cookout during AIDS Education Month.
The Project TEACH Peer Education Coordinator represents Philadelphia FIGHT both on site and in the community, in a courteous, efficient manner that reflects the high level of integrity and customer service mandated by Philadelphia FIGHT.
This position works closely with the Project TEACH staff team, and will coordinate with other staff at FIGHT to recruit program participants.
