DESCRIPTION
Summary:Dynamic, 80 year old multi-service community-based non-profit in Manayunk seeks a Director of Children’s Services/Volunteer Coordinator.
The DCS is responsible for all aspects of delivering quality, affordable childcare services that meet the physical, intellectual, social, emotional and recreational needs of children, ages 3 -12 in a safe, fun and educational atmosphere that promote children’s self-confidence and love of learning. Responsibilities include: direction of licensed childcare programs (afterschool, summer day camp) including developing policies and procedures to maintain compliance with DPW licensing and other applicable regulatory agencies; program planning, implementation and evaluation; program budgeting and resource management, analysis and reporting; staff supervision and development; maintaining cleanliness and safety standards for program environment (indoor and outdoor facility spaces, vans); nurturing and sustaining positive relationships with parents/caregivers; developing and maintaining working relationships with applicable school personnel and other child supports; maintaining core standards and advancing program quality and accreditation. The DCS also fields and coordinates opportunities for enrichment activities, events and/or services for children up to the age of 12.
Classification: Full-Time Salaried (40 hours per week, some evenings and weekends).
Reports To: Executive Director
Supervises: Childcare Staff, e.g.Childcare Group Supervisors, Bursar, Day Camp Counselors, Volunteers
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 1 year of experience with children OR Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 2 years of experience with children OR an associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 3 years of experience with children OR an associate’s degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 4 years of experience with children.
- Computer literacy including proficiency with office technology. Knowledge of website software, databases, online social networks is a plus.
- Understanding and commitment to North Light’s mission and role in the community.
- Ability to communicate clearly in person and in writing.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills to effectively work with diverse individuals (colleagues, board members, volunteers, donors, constituents), both one-to-one as well as in groups.
- Thorough, organized and detail-oriented approach to work.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, coordinate, and manage own work.
- Ability to lead multiple long- and short-term projects simultaneously, meeting all related deadlines.
- Ability to take direction but also make decisions and solve problems independently, effectively and creatively as appropriate.
- Ability to be flexible & creative in responding to new challenges.
- Willingness to work as a team member to accomplish overarching organizational goals.
- Ability to lift 35 lbs.
- Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
