Deliberative Democracy symposium
Posted by Community College of Philadelphia on May 29, 2017
The Fox Rothschild Center for Law and Society at Community College of Philadelphia is holding a symposium on Deliberative Democracy on Monday, June 19th from 10-2:40 at our main campus. Deliberative Democracy is a process of civic engagement in which participants are pre-surveyed, provided balanced materials on an issue, participate in small, structured group discuss, and, as part of that group, develop questions for a panel of experts. Following the questioning of the experts, post surveys are administered. Our symposium includes a keynote by Robert Cavalier from Carnegie Mellon’s Center for Deliberative Democracy, a panel on other deliberative democracy sessions we have conducted, a working lunch with a “mini-session” on the issue of gentrification, followed by a session on where we go from here. Lunch provided. Participants can attend all or part of the day – see details on the RSVP form: https://goo.gl/forms/X2mMfHsLUztXjvci1
