Read by 4th new website and impact report
Posted by Free Library of Philadelphia on March 20, 2017
Read by 4th held an event with the Mayor’s Office on February 23rd to review what we have learned about what it will take to move the needle and to propose our 6 bold ideas for doing so.
- Every grownup embraces life’s teachable moments in a city full of learning landscapes.
- Every new teacher enters the classroom ready to teach reading.
- Every family makes perfect attendance a weekly goal because every day counts, start to finish.
- Every child has a personal home library with the right books.
- Every child has access to free reading tutoring in their neighborhood.
- Every block has a reading hero.
The event attracted nearly 100 civic and community leaders from multiple sectors of our city. The energy in the room was palpable and the ideas shared were exciting and actionable. Expect us to have these bold ides on the agenda for the appropriate working groups and partner network meetings so we can collectively flesh out these ideas and move to implementation. The ball is now in our court to take that energy, enthusiasm and commitment and turn it into urgent, focused action.
To keep us all on the same page we are attaching the impact document that was shared at the event,

We are working on a new collateral piece that will describe the 6 bold ideas in the context of our logic model and work plans which we will share with you as soon as it is completed. In the meantime, please also take note of the revamped Rb4 website – http://www.readby4th.org – we are still making tweaks, but it is a much more robust site designed for families. Over the next week or so, we will be adding a partner portal to the website through which you will be able to access our shared resources such as work plans, messaging calendars, logos, jpegs for social media, dates of upcoming events, etc…
