The Parent-Child Home Program
Posted by Public Health Management Corporation on December 19, 2016
The Parent-Child Home Program (PCHP) envisions a world where every child enters school ready to succeed because every parent has the knowledge and resources to build school readiness where it starts: the home. PCHP works with families with children between 16 months and four years old, over a two-year period, in one-on-one, twice weekly home visits focused on helping parents prepare their children for school success. Over two program cycles, trained community-based Early Learning Specialists, who are a linguistic and cultural match with families, model reading, play, and conversation activities for parents and children together. The Program provides a combination of books and educational toys, a total of 46 items, as a gift, to support families in building language, literacy and learning-rich homes. All PCHP graduates are assisted in enrolling in high-quality preschool as they complete the program. In 2017, PCHP is working with families residing in the 19121 zip code and Latino and African immigrant families in South and Southwest Philadelphia.
