WHAT IS MATH SCIENCE UPWARD BOUND?
Temple University’s Math Science Upward Bound Program (MSUB) is a comprehensive program developed to enhance the academic skills and preparation of talented high school students who have an interest in pursuing math or science as a major in college. While providing students with academic support and hands-on science and math experience and exploration, MSUB will also assist students in the college preparation, identification, and application processes. Funded by the U.S. Department of Education, MSUB provides a 6-week summer residential program on the campus of Temple University, and an after school and Saturday Program during the academic year. Once students are selected to participate, they remain in the program until their high school graduation.

WHO SHOULD APPLY?
◊ Motivated eighth, ninth, and tenth grade students attending or planning to attend Philadelphia Public High Schools who would like to attend college
◊ Students with an interest in a career in Math, Science or Technology
◊ Students willing to attend after school and Saturday programming
◊ Students who have at least a “B” minimum in their Math and Science classes
◊ Students who would like a glimpse of what college life will be like and interact with current college students
◊ Students interested in participating in Science/Math competitions

WHAT DOES THE PROGRAM OFFER?

◊ Scholarship and internship information and application assistance
◊ Academic support in Math, Science, English, and other current subjects
◊ College visitation program
◊ Completion of a Research Project
◊ Networking with students, faculty, and professionals in the Science, Mathematics and Technology fields
◊ Mentoring from Science and Math Professionals
◊ Career development and preparation
◊ Assistance with selecting and applying to college
◊ College preparation
◊ Stipends
◊ Tokens for transportation to program events

WHAT DOES THE PROGRAM COST?
Programming and trips are provided to students at no cost. At times students may be asked to bring lunch or money to purchase lunch on trips.
