Childcare Development Associate Instructor, Congreso

Congreso de Latinos Unidos, Inc. is currently seeking a Full-time CDA Instructor for their Education and Workforce Division (EWS). Congreso is seeking a full-time Instructor for its Childcare Development Associate (CDA) Program with a degree in Early Childhood Education (Bachelor’s preferred) and several years of management level experience working in child care. The CDA Instructor will provide the 120-hours of mandatory education that the Council of Professional Recognition (http://www.cdacouncil.org) requires of all applicants seeking the nationally recognized CDA credential. This position will report to the Business Development Director, and will partner with job developer and case managers to deliver comprehensive CDA Training Program. In addition to developing and delivering classroom instruction, this position requires support in the areas of CDA credentialing, student-internship support, team planning meetings, student consultations, and facilitating new-student orientations.

Essential Functions
1. Prepare and deliver comprehensive CDA Program academic curriculum to TANF population.
2. Deliver in classroom the principles and standards as designed by the Council of Professional Recognition for CDA credentialing.
3. Provide instruction related to teaching infants, toddlers and pre-k aged children activities designed to promote social, physical, emotional and intellectual growth needed in preschool, day care center, or other child development facility.
4. Utilize technology including Microsoft Office software, email, and web-based applications to deliver curriculum.
5. Proven skills in curriculum development and teaching methodology.
6. Develop mastery of CDA Exam materials and subject matter through research, data analysis, and professional development trainings.
7. Develop mastery of CDA testing and registration process and requirements.
8. Demonstrate instructional expertise in all of the Keystone Stars credentialing system.
9. Serve as coach and mentor to students regarding academic progress, life skills, internship success, professionalism, and pursuing post-secondary education / employment.
10. Work with team members to evaluate student academic progress, identify solutions to students’ academic and social barriers, assess project performance, and participate on selection panel for student internship interviewing.
11. Work diligently to achieve program outcomes as related to staff performance evaluation.
12. Attend regular staff, team, divisional, and individual supervisory meetings, as scheduled.
13. Participate in agency activities, quarterly meetings, and committees in order to share information that will promote the purpose and mission of Congreso.
14. Excellent organizational and communication skills with a strong degree of patience and ability support adult learners who are making the transition from welfare into the workforce.

Experience, Education, and Licensure
Minimum Experience:
 3+ years of management level experience working in child care or providing direct educational services to young adults, the community, or related experience.
 Experience teaching subject matter associated with CDA credentialing exam and experience working in alternative education settings preferred.
 Candidate should have excellent oral and written communications skills.
 Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly in Word and Excel, required.
 Classroom facilitation abilities are required.

Minimum Education:
 Associate’s degree in Education, Early Child Education, or related field. Bachelor’s in Education (preferred).

Certification/License:
 PQAS credential a plus
