AmeriCorps Alumni Outcomes Study

More AmeriCorps service linked with high educational achievement, study shows
As part of the AmeriCorps Alumni Outcomes study, researchers securely matched alumni records with National Student Clearinghouse data to better understand the typical educational achievement of a national service member.

The results of this match show that AmeriCorps alumni are more likely to attain a bachelor’s degree or higher than the average American adult. The results also show that AmeriCorps members who spent two years in service were even more likely to achieve a higher degree than other alumni.
This is consistent with findings from the broader study where 70% of surveyed alumni said their time in AmeriCorps was important in helping them achieve their educational goals.
The final report from this study is expected to be released later this fall.
It should be noted that certain regulatory blocks and dataset incompleteness prevented the researchers from achieving a 100% match.
