New Report: Insuring Healthy Births
Posted by on April 13, 2009
Maternity Care Coalition is gearing up to promote our latest report and are looking to spread the word about the report and our rally on May 4th in Harrisburg. We are looking for women to speak at the rally who could not get insurance because their pregnancy was considered a pre-existing condition or could not afford insurance because of the price of adding maternity coverage; or those who have had difficulty accessing reproductive healthcare (such as family planning, prenatal or postpartum care) because of a lack of or inadequate insurance.
Insuring Healthy Births, available for review on our website at http://www.MOMobile.org, reviews the healthcare services childbearing women need and the kinds of health insurance currently available in the state. We examined other states’ solutions and considered the lessons they’ve learned. This report summarizes our research and our recommendations for change are on page 13-16.
The ‘special delivery’ of our Insuring Healthy Births report to policymakers, is set for Monday May 4th from 12-1pm in the Rotunda at the Capitol Building in Harrisburg. We purposefully scheduled it around Mother’s Day because the best gift to childbearing women would be access to a safe, quality childbirth experience.
