VISTA AmeriCorps: My Free Tutor Community Outreach Fundraising and Recruiting Coordinator
Improve the education and workforce opportunities of disadvantaged students and veterans throughout RSVP’s service areas of Chester, Montgomery, and Delaware counties and beyond! Build relationships with schools and corporations while gaining marketable skills.
RSVP’s My Free Tutor Program in King of Prussia, PA combines technology, corporate partnerships, and volunteer expertise to broaden STEM capabilities and future career opportunities for disadvantaged youth and college bound veterans.
Students are matched with volunteer tutors and receive personalized weekly virtual tutoring through our web-based tutoring platform, http://MyFreeTutor.org, complete with whiteboard and voice over capabilities.
Students include disadvantaged high school students who are struggling with math or science and veterans enrolled in the Veteran’s Upward Bound Program at the University of Pennsylvania, LaGuardia Community College, and Prince George’s Community College. Volunteer tutors are recruited from corporations who encourage their employees to volunteer, as well as through social media and universities.
My Free Tutor is an outgrowth of RSVP’S 20 year history of developing successful and award-winning educational programs for children and youth. Developed in 2013, MFT has been tested and is ready to expand to the next level partnering with additional schools and corporations to serve more disadvantaged students and veterans.
