Event Overview: New college students ask one another “what’s your major?” Politicians and pundits opine about the subjects students should be encouraged to pursue (or not) as majors. Yet experts say that general education may be as important as, if not more important than, the major when it comes to determining the quality of undergraduate education. On Wednesday, May 11, at 2 PM Eastern, Inside Higher Ed presents “The Critical Role of General Education,” a free webinar featuring Scott Jaschik and Doug Lederman, founders and co-editors of Inside Higher Ed.
Topics to be discussed on this webinar include:
- How colleges are experimenting with joint teaching
- New ways of designing general education models
- Why some universities are using full-time faculty to teach freshmen courses
This webinar is ideal for:
- Provosts and chief academic officers
- Deans
- Senior administrators
- Faculty members
- Academic affairs personnel
