EarthFest 2009, Friday, April 24, 9:30 am to 2:00 pm
More than 10,000 visitors are expected for EarthFest 2009 at Temple University’s Ambler campus. Each year on Earth Day people around the world celebrate the importance of protecting the environment and preserving our future.
More than 90 exhibitors, including The Fairmount Water Works Interpretive Center, Fairmount Park, Philadelphia Zoo, The Franklin Institute, the Academy of Natural Sciences, Adventure Aquarium, the Elmwood Park Zoo, and more will take part in what has become one of the largest celebrations of Earth Day on the East Coast.
Educators from the Interpretive Center and Fairmount Park will demonstrate daily water usage in different parts of the world. Using one bird seed to represent one gallon of water, visitors can compare water use in many countries throughout the world and learn how nations with limited water resources cope.
Food and entertainment are also part of the festivities. For more information on EarthFest 2009, contact 267-468-8108 or duffyj@temple.edu, or visit http://www.ambler.temple.edu/earthfest. Temple University’s Ambler Campus is located at 580 Meetinghouse Road, Ambler, PA 19002.
