Study Links Liberal Arts to Success in Life
A background in the liberal arts can translate into becoming a leader and a more fulfilling life
A study released last month shows that a liberal arts education is associated with greater odds for students to become leaders, be seen as ethical, appreciate arts and culture and lead a more fulfilling and happy life.
The study, done by Richard A. Detweiler, president of the Great Lakes Colleges Association, is data-driven. Detweiler hopes to turn the study’s findings into a book, according to Inside Higher Education.
Detweiler presented his findings at the annual meeting of the Association of American Colleges and Universities.
The study was conducted using 1,000 college graduates – some who attended liberal arts schools and some who did not. The study looked at graduates 10, 20 and 40 years after they left school.
