JEVS Project WOW (World of Work) is now recruiting for its January class. This program supports out-of-school youth in completing their education while at the same time providing career training in the building trades field. Thanks to a grant from Philadelphia Youth Network, Project WOW’s structure has been enhanced to now include: one week of professional development at the end of the program for students to work on developing a résumé and interviewing skills; in-house job search assistance with a JEVS employment specialist; OSHA 10 certification opportunity; and the program lengthened from 16 weeks to 24 weeks to provide more GED test preparation.

Project WOW students gain hands-on training in weatherization and property maintenance/repair, such as basic skills in carpentry, plumbing and electrical, to prepare them for employment that will lead to self-sufficiency. Students earn a Trades Diploma upon program completion.

Program Details:

· The program is no cost to out-of-school young adults residing in Philadelphia between the ages of 18-24 (must have high school drop letter) who meet eligibility requirements.

· Transportation money is provided, and GED testing fees are paid for by the program.

· Classes are held Monday through Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. at JEVS’ Orleans Technical College, located at 2770 Red Lion Road in Northeast Philadelphia.
