About the Healthy Rowhouse Project
Founded in December 2014 by the Design Advocacy Group, The Healthy Rowhouse Project is a growing coalition of organizations in the fields of health, housing, planning and preservation dedicated to improving substandard conditions and health in rowhouses owned by lower-income Philadelphians. The Healthy Rowhouse Project is funded by the Oak Foundation and the Barra Foundation.

Improve the health of Philadelphians and preserve critical affordable housing by using innovative strategies to improve housing conditions in thousands of rowhouses each year.
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION
New non-profit seeks an Executive Director experienced in crossing traditional silos and connecting research to practice. Healthy Rowhouse Project, founded in 2014, will improve the health of low-income Philadelphians, preserve critical affordable housing, help to keep low-income residents in their homes, and maintain diversity in changing neighborhoods. The Project will create innovative business models for funding and project delivery to repair and preserve thousands of rowhouses each year. The Executive Director will have strategic and operational responsibility for the execution of its mission. In addition, the Executive Director will:
• Develop and implement an operational plan that creates one or more funded programs to provide home repairs at scale for both rowhouse homeowners and landlords.
• Set priorities, develop a work schedule, monitor progress toward goals, and track details, data, information and activities. Ensure rigorous program evaluation.
• Work closely with the Advisory Board to meet its expectations and those of the Funders.
• Raise funds during the term of the grant to allow the organization to achieve its mission and meet matching grant requirements.
• Establish long-term financing mechanisms to support the goals of the Project. These may include grants, self-financing mechanisms and/or alternative lending practices.
• Engage leaders in allied fields of health, finance, design, historic preservation, construction and other relevant area to achieve the goals of the Project.
• Foster effective team work among the Project consultants.
• Establish productive and collaborative relationships with others in government, non-profits and businesses to further the goals of the Project.
Qualifications
• Advanced degree required with 7+ years of related experience. Qualified individuals will possess a high level of performance in the public or non-profit arena, as well as knowledge of financing, real estate development or building renovation.
• Experience as effective collaborator. Must be comfortable in a collegial environment, and capable of managing as part of a leadership team.
• Commitment to the Healthy Rowhouse mission. Must be committed to improving the condition of housing for low-income households and have a vision for public policy and social impact that will bring home repairs to scale.
• Knowledge of current community challenges and opportunities relating to the mission of the organization.
• Track record of effectively leading a performance- and outcomes-based organization and staff with an ability to point to specific examples of having developed and implemented strategies or programs.
• Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to business planning.
• Experience securing and developing funding.
• Understanding real estate development and financing.
• Experience building relationships within and working with low-income communities.
Salary: Commensurate with experience.
