New E-Learning Unit Arrives Serving Undocumented Students
“Working With and For Undocumented Students” is the newest NCAN E-Learning Unit that became available last week. In this unit, participants will gain and review immigration and education policies such as DACA, understanding the national and state contexts that impact undocumented students’ experiences, and brainstorm ways to create educational environments that are welcoming and liberating to all students, regardless of immigration status. The unit contains valuable resources and information regarding immigration legislation that can be helpful when advising undocumented students. The E-Learning Units are free to all NCAN members.
As we approach FAFSA season, we encourage our members to utilize our FAFSA 101 unit to train advisors for the 2016-2017 year. The unit will be updated and available in January. FAFSA 201 will be updated in February, to help advisors understand the post-FAFSA processes-SAR review and verification. NCAN was pleased to see that hundreds of advisors took and passed several hundred E-Learning Training Units as this academic year began. Having well-informed advisors helps us create well-informed students who make well-informed decisions.
