21st Annual Greater Philadelphia Martin Luther King Day of Service, Monday, January 18, 2016

Every year, thousands of college students across the tri-state come together to celebrate the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. by serving those in need. For the past 20 years, colleges and universities have participated in the Martin Luther King Day of Service to enrich the civic education of their students while creating a sustainable, positive impact in the surrounding community

As part of 20th Annual Greater Philadelphia King Day of Service, more than 135,000 people throughout the tri-state region volunteered in some 1,800 projects. 71,638 meals were prepared and served to the homeless. 35,359 books were donated and sorted for distribution to centers and schools in some of our region’s most underserved communities. 55,193 care packages or hygiene kits created and distributed to those in need.

It is our goal to further expand the impact of the King Day of Service and serve even more people in 2016. We hope you will join us as a partner on Monday, January 18, 2016 for the 21st Annual Greater Philadelphia Martin Luther King Day of Service.

Consider organizing a Sunday Supper, a free potluck-style community meal that gives members of the community an opportunity to connect with each other, discuss Dr. King’s legacy and further opportunities for civic engagement and service.
