5:30 PM — 8:00 PM
The Welcoming Center for New Pennsylvanians and AL DÍA News Media invite you to the second event of a two-part symposium series on the role of immigrants in our regional economy.
As Philadelphia continues to re-emerge as a major immigrant destination, the city’s ability to integrate and support these newcomers is increasingly critical. Immigrant integration is a two-way investment and by advancing immigrant integration as a key economic development strategy, we maximize our efforts to ensure the success of individuals and position the region to be competitive in the global economy.
The event will highlight the contributions of a few notable immigrants in the region who have contributed in a substantial way to support their communities or made notable strides in business or other endeavors. The event will also provide a platform for public discussion around the next phase of immigrant integration in Philadelphia.
Our keynote speaker for the evening will be Jim Kenney, the current democratic candidate and projected next mayor of the city. The event will also contextualize Philadelphia’s efforts into a national picture through representation by the White House Task Force on New Americans.
This event is made possible by the kind support of: Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, Ukrainian Selfreliance Federal Credit Union, and the Philadelphia Mayor’s Office of Immigrant and Multicultural Affairs.
Tickets are $45, and all proceeds go toward supporting education and training programs at the Welcoming Center for New Pennsylvanians.
