About Pennsylvania Voice:

Pennsylvania Voice is a statewide network committed to the goal of ensuring that every Pennsylvanian is able to fully participate in our democracy. Pennsylvania Voice is a new model for coordination among nonpartisan 501(c)3 advocacy, community, and grassroots organizations throughout the Commonwealth. Pennsylvania Voice’s role is to be a central driver for 501c3 civic engagement work by developing strategies and providing technical assistance to non-profit organizations, providing access to cutting edge tools, connecting organizations from across the state and issue areas, and building a coordinated and collaborative plan to engage and empower individuals, especially under represented communities in our political process. Our 784 state, local, or national affiliate partners are organized into “tables” in the following states: Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, and California through the San Diego Metropolitan Area table. We also train and support an additional 214 partner groups in “non-table” states through our Tools For All Program.

We advance this work through three (3) national programs: Civic Engagement (voter registration, GOTV, issue advocacy and constituency engagement), Civic Access (voting rights and election administration) and Civic Representation (census, redistricting and “money in politics”). Position Overview:

Pennsylvania Voice seeks a talented organizer with a record of success working on Get-Out-the-Vote efforts to serve as our Voter Engagement Trainer. The Voter Engagement Trainer will work with non-profit organizations, service providers, and advocacy organizations to coordinate our 2015 non-partisan voter engagement program. The Voter Engagement Trainer will report to the Deputy Director. This is a short-term position starting September 1, 2015 and ending November 13, 2015.

Principal Responsibilities for the Pennsylvania Voter Engagement Trainer include:

The trainer will spend 50% of their time supporting partners programs and 50% providing VAN (database) administration training and support. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Implementation of the coordinated Why Courts Matter turnout efforts including data support, trainings, voter registration, education and mobilization.

· Management of a pilot SMS program.

· Support for non-partisan candidate forums.

· Participation in partner work groups to provide strategic programmatic assistance and support.

· Training and support to all partners in field-related features in the NGP VAN.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for this position will possess many, if not all, of the following qualifications:

· A strong commitment to progressive civic engagement and an understanding of nonpartisan 501(c)(3) organizations.

· Experience in grassroots organizing and voter engagement.

· Experience and comfort with leading, conducting and facilitating meetings and trainings. Familiarity with online tools such as the NGP Voter Activation Network (VAN). This experience may include cutting turf, creating lists, and managing data entry projects. Knowledge of advanced features such as use of predictive dialers and Mini-VAN are pluses.

· Diplomatic, professional approach to problem solving while working independently or on a team.

· Ability to manage several tasks/projects concurrently and prioritize work effectively.

· Ability to set goals, meet deadlines and provide regular reports. Sense of humor and ability to roll with the ever-changing political landscape essential to success in this position

· Must be a self-starter; willing to work sometimes long, irregular hours and to travel as needed.

Compensation: Compensation is competitive and negotiable depending on background and experience, and includes a full benefits package.
