Passionate about youth mentoring and improving the life outcomes of children living in low-income housing communities? Join the DREAM team in Philadelphia, PA.
We are seeking three AmeriCorps VISTA Program Empowerment Directors for our recently launched Philadelphia office and one AmeriCorps VISTA Development Assistant in our Philadelphia office.
DREAM is a youth development organization that works to change the life outcomes of youth living in low-income housing developments by providing high quality, college campus based Village Mentoring, summer enrichment programming, local and regional adventures, support for post-secondary success, and an unwavering commitment to some of our most vulnerable youth. DREAM recruits college student volunteer to serve as mentors to youth living in affordable housing. All DREAM youth receive consistent, year-round DREAM programming, from elementary school through high school graduation and into college and career. DREAM believes in the adage that “it takes a village to raise a child” and takes a more community oriented approach to mentoring, building a strong social support network around each youth participant. DREAM is a small but growing organization seeking to increase its impact and reach in Philadelphia.
DREAM’s Local Community Programs (groups of college students mentoring children living in affordable housing communities in close proximity to the college or university) are the heart of the organization. The primary responsibility of Program Empowerment Directors is to ensure that mentors have necessary resources, training and support to run an amazing mentoring program and empower children to DREAM big.
Program Empowerment Directors drive DREAM’s mission and work to support and oversee the overall health, stability and vitality of our Local Programs. The Program Empowerment Directors will provide direct guidance and support to volunteer mentoring student groups. The primary responsibility of the Program Empowerment Directors will be to work closely with the Philadelphia staff to support college student mentors as well as the youth and families DREAM serves. Program Empowerment Directors will focus on recruiting new mentors and mentees, strengthening existing relationships with youth, parents and community stakeholders and playing a large role in the facilitation and implementation of our teen “Mentor-In-Training” program.
The Development Associate will be responsible for researching and prospecting donors and grants, manage data in a Salesforce database, grant writing, special event planning and management, compiling solicitation materials, acknowledging donors, managing social media and external communications and building our donor network in Philadelphia. The Development Assistant will work closely with the Regional Director to execute the annual fundraising plan and build DREAM’s operational capacity through grant writing, annual appeal campaigns, donor and grant research, special fundraising events, networking and marketing. The Development Assistant will get an incredibly valuable learning experience in grassroots fundraising and growing the giving capacity of a newly launched non-profit organization. They will be a viable member of the DREAM development team and will gain a tremendous amount of new skills and insight into non-profit development strategy.
