Youth project develops guides for caseworkers on teens in foster care
Youth Fostering Change, a youth engagement program of the Juvenile Law Center, offers youth who are currently or formerly involved in the child welfare system the opportunity to evaluate the system and develop and implement a campaign that works toward reform. Each year, Youth Fostering Change Youth Advocates select an area of focus, determine a strategy to address it, and implement the project.
A recent project of the group focused on the challenges many teens and young adults face with their foster home placements. The result is two printable guides to help child welfare social workers choose more age-appropriate placements for older youth.
