Brief Examines Access Improvements for Undocumented Students

In a new research brief, Addressing postsecondary access for undocumented students, the Education Commission of the States considers state policies involving undocumented students and college access. The brief notes that since 2001, 18 states have enacted policies that make undocumented students eligible for in-state tuition at public postsecondary institutions. Of these 18 states, five are close to making undocumented students eligible for in-state financial aid. In addition to these state actions, two recent federal policies have allowed undocumented young people to stay in the United States.
