This publication was developed to establish a guide for the development of student/community-based action studio plans. It examines the linkages among demographics, land use, and organizational development of the delivery of planning services for the cities of Hartford, CT and Providence, RI. The publication is based on the seventh annual Dr. Marcia Marker Feld Lecture, named for a longtime thinker and practitioner. Over the last seven years, this lecture series has been convening stakeholders across sectors around critical issues Providence, RI. The Seventh Annual Lecture was given on November 6, 2013 by Thomas E. Deller, and entitled: A Tale of Two Cities: Economic Development and Housing Change in Hartford, Connecticut and Providence, Rhode Island.
