Gardens and Culture Educator, Norris Square Neighborhood Project
Posted by Norris Square Neighborhood Project on February 16, 2015
Norris Square Neighborhood Project seeks a dynamic and energetic bilingual educator / community organizer to fill the newly created Gardens and Culture Educator (GCE) position. Formerly the Urban Garden Director, the GCE will play a more active role in program development and education, and less of a role in the physical maintenance of the garden spaces. The GCE will work closely with the Executive Director and in conjunction with the Food and Landscape Coordinator to further restructure the current Garden program to encompass more cultural and environmental pieces.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the Latino culture, especially Puerto Rican; familiarity with organic and sustainable gardening and the environment; experience in education, community organizing, empowerment and outreach; and enjoy sharing their knowledge with community members, students, youth, volunteers, and visitors. The GCE will, with the support of the Food and Landscape Coordinator, co-manage the Garden and Culture Program, as well as support group leaders with lesson planning. This position will have a key role in strengthening our cultural and environmental programs and activities in the Norris Square community.
