PUBLIC CITIZENS FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH (PCCY)
Picasso Project INTERNSHIP – Arts Education Coordination and Advocacy

PCCY is the region’s leading children’s advocacy organization, working to improve the lives and life chances of children in Southeastern Pennsylvania. PCCY seeks highly organized, motivated interns to work on arts education coordination, evaluation and advocacy. The Picasso Project (http://www.pccy.org/picassoproject) brings the arts to Philadelphia Public Schools through a mini-grants program, funding visual and performing arts and multimedia explorations at 15 schools a year as well as mobilizing advocacy for more funds for arts education city wide. Interns will gain exposure to Philadelphia public schools and all elements of running a non-profit such as:

• Create content for web-based outreach, the Picasso Blog, and any digital and print marketing/publicity materials (all year)
• Fundraising: Event organization, individual donor outreach and grant writing (all year)
• Compile and create Picasso Project digital and print marketing materials (all year)
• Refine program’s approach to evaluation (all year)
• Reach out to potential teacher applicants in diverse geographic areas of Philadelphia (October)
• Solicit and review mini-grant proposals via competitive process (November-December)
• Organize large awards event at Moore College of Art and Design (January)
• Conduct arts education advocacy training for all grantee schools and students (March)
• Give hands-on technical support of school projects (February – June)
• Organize and attend arts-driven Action Days at City Hall and in Harrisburg (May-June)

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Highly organized and self-motivated students in Masters and Undergraduate programs as well as unaffiliated volunteers will be considered.
• Knowledge of multimedia and graphic design skills
• Familiarity with Philadelphia geography, schools & arts organizations
• Skills in program evaluation

COMPENSATION: The internship is unpaid.
SCHEDULE: 25 hours per week, Mon, Wed, Thur or as arranged.
TERM: Internship is available starting January 2nd on a full-year or semester basis
