Community Ebola Medical Supply Collections at Arcadia

The World Health Organization has estimated that approximately 8,400 people have been affected by the current Ebola outbreak so far, making it the largest in history. While the U.S. government has promised supplies to Liberia, one of the countries most devastated by the disease, many other regions need assistance. In response, Arcadia will hold three Community Ebola Medical Supply Collections. Donations can be dropped off from noon to 4 p.m. at the Grey Towers Castle patio on Sunday, October 26.

The drives, which will provide much-needed relief to rural regions of West Africa, are a collaboration between the Community Service Office and Fodeba Daboh ’11M, a graduate of Arcadia University’s International Peace and Conflict Resolution Program and a native of Sierra Leone. Following the drives, Daboh will head to Sierra Leone to work with the World Health Organization to oversee distribution of the donated items to hospitals and peripheral health units.

Items needed:

Disposable gloves
Disposable head covers
Gauze
Goggles
Medical/surgical masks
Disposable gowns
Shoe covers
Bar soaps
Bed sheets (new or gently used)
Coveralls
Medical aprons
Medical gowns
Face shields
IV poles
Drink coolers (with spigot)
Body bags

Monetary donations also are welcome and will be used for additional supplies and the cost of shipping to Africa.

To drop off donations, enter Arcadia by the S. Easton Road entrance and look for a donation truck with a green cross.
