AmeriCorps National Member Position: Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative (NRI) Coordinator at Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County, PA (HFHMC)
The Opportunity:
The Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative (NRI) Coordinator position presents an extraordinary opportunity to manage and grow a small, but dynamic, non-profit’s recently launched, neighborhood-revitalization endeavor. Reporting to the Family Services Director, the NRI Coordinator will focus on comprehensive neighborhood revitalization in targeted Montgomery County multi-block areas by driving this community-centric program and managing its related activities. The NRI Coordinator will also coordinate HFHMC’s Home Repair Program, which, as part of this holistic revitalization effort, provides critical home repairs and exterior preservation to qualified homeowners within the NRI zone. The NRI Coordinator is also responsible for gathering and establishing baseline data for the targeted area and comparative follow-up data – including resident satisfaction and engagement – using HFH’s Success Measures software, hence measuring outcomes of neighborhood revitalization efforts.
The Opportunity:
As the teammember responsible for building upon community relationships established by the current AmeriCorps member – and creating new ones – and for facilitating all NRI projects, you will be integral to the growth and viability of our affiliate moving forward. You can’t afford to miss this opportunity!
•As an articulate, enthusiastic and visible spokesperson for the organization, you will maintain strategic alliances and strong working partnerships with local government agencies, community based organizations, and community action groups to sustain the indiginous support that is necessary to ensure a successful NRI program.
•You will gain critical work experience as you also identify, cultivate and maintain relationships with organizations and residents within the NRI zone – also developing individual relationships with local homeowners in need – hence experiencing not only community development, but also case management, up-close-and-personal.
•You will expand your knowledge and expertise by implementing the framework and processes by which HFHMC identifies, qualifies and intakes families into the Home Repair Program. You will also be responsible for tracking the NRI program’s success by gathering data, via surveys, to measure the outcomes of neighborhood revitalization efforts.
•Finally, you will benefit from formal training through the AmeriCorps program and local seminars. Plus you will have many networking opportunities with community leaders and organizations to enhance your post-AmeriCorps career development.
Qualifications and Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree preferably in sociology, urban planning, anthropology, psychology, or human/social services;
• Ideally, experience with strategic planning, program management and evaluation methods, including understanding of gathering and reporting on quantitative and qualitative research;
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), including public speaking;
• Great attention to detail and the ability to multitask;
• Strong computer skills required, including proficiency with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Publisher) and Outlook – experience with Success Measures software a plus;
• Knowledge of mapping software preferred;
• Strong people skills and the ability to work well with diverse groups and clients;
• Ability to work as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced, ever-changing, often casual professional environment;
• Passion for Habitat’s mission, plus commitment to serving low-income families by addressing the critical need for affordable home repair and homeownership in Montgomery County;
• Knowledge of social service organizations and programs within Montgomery County a plus;
• Ability to travel throughout the county for meetings and activities, including a dependable car and valid driver’s license;
