ATTENTION SOCIAL CHANGE LEADERS APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN TO APPLY TO WINDCALL
GULF COAST ORGANIZERS ESPECIALLY ENCOURAGED TO APPLY
March 30th deadline
Do you need time out to reflect and relax? Are you between major campaigns or organizational shifts and need time to regroup? Are you edging towards burnout?
If so, Windcall might be for you. Imagine if you were to remove yourself from the daily hassles and crises of organizing for two weeks. Think about the strategies and energy that would surface within you. At Windcall – a nationally recognized program designed to help leaders sustain and renew themselves – YOU decide how to rejuvenate yourself and your work.
Windcall residencies in 2007 last for two weeks during the month of September and are located near Montpelier, Vermont. Windcall residencies are cost-free. At Windcall, you have unstructured time to reflect, pursue a long-planned project, or take advantage of recreational opportunities such as fishing, swimming, or hiking in the mountains. Only three individuals are in residence at a time. Each enjoys a private room, with access to art supplies, private study areas, and miles of trails and open skies. The kitchen is always stocked, and a delicious evening meal is prepared by a chef each day. To date, more than 430 people involved in social change work have been Windcall Residents.
"I came back clear and relaxed on a lot of different things in the organization. It gave some of the staff the opportunity to do some things without me being on top of them. It got some staff to step up and take some responsibility. I came back clear on the direction I want to go in this organization and in my life…Windcall came in at the right time as I’m thinking about my life and my career." — 2006 Windcall Resident
Windcall Residents are chosen by a national Selection Committee, who gives first consideration to grassroots community and labor organizers working in low-income communities. Windcall also accepts proposals from cultural workers, advocates and activists who can demonstrate how their work engages other people in taking collective action for social change. Applicants should have at least five years’ experience with social justice organizations and be able to demonstrate their long-term commitment to social change. The upcoming application deadline is March 30, 2007.
IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO APPLY, please let us know, so we can be looking for your application!
