on-line Grad Certificate Program in Service-Learning

The University of Wisconsin River Falls with the National Youth Leadership Council (NYLC) as a partner, is announcing an on-line Graduate Certificate Program in Service-Learning. The first cohort group will begin this January by registering for TED 721 Introduction to Service-Learning starting January 26, 2004. This offering is the first of five 3-credit courses to achieve the certificate. The initial sequence of courses is as follows:
TED 721 – Introduction to Service-Learning (January 26, 2004)
TED 722 – Advanced Service-Learning (March 22, 2004)
TED 724 – Service-Learning Reflection/Brain-based and Partnerships (Summer 2004)
TED 723 – Service-Learning Research/Assessment and Evaluation (September, 2004)
TED 737 – Service-Learning Practicum (October, 2004)
TED 721 – The introductory three credit course will introduce students to the basic core concepts of service learning. Service-learning is a teaching method and educational philosophy that connects service with learning linked to academic standards. It allows teachers to address a variety of learning styles by engaging youth in meaningful projects through service to schools and their communities.

In order to register for classes, you must first apply for admission to the Graduate School as a certificate-seeking student. There are several steps/options to apply:

Call the Graduate Studies office at (715)425-3843 to request a form.
You must also pay a $45 application fee and provide official transcripts for all your undergraduate work. Upon receipt of these materials, your application will be processed and you will be notified of your status.

Once you have applied as a certificate-seeking student, you must register for the class. To register for the class, download and complete the initial registration form and fax to the number listed:
