OUT-OF-SCHOOL TIME RESOURCE CENTER (OSTRC)
SENIOR RESEARCH COORDINATOR
SUMMARY
The Out-of-School Time Resource Center (OSTRC) is part of the University of Pennsylvania?s School of Social Policy and Practice. The OSTRC promotes out-of-school time (OST) student achievement by conducting research on and providing access to staff resources and professional development.
The OSTRC seeks a full-time, permanent Senior Research Coordinator. The Senior Research Coordinator oversees all research projects and activities at the OSTRC, include designing studies, developing instruments, analyzing data, providing technical assistance, conducting literature reviews, writing articles, communicating with colleagues, supervising research assistants, and similar efforts.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
 Oversee all research projects and activities pertaining to OST professional development research and evaluation.
 Develop and implement a mixed-method research project which explores regional professional development activities, needs, and suggestions for enhancement.
 Develop and implement evaluation instruments to ascertain the impact of professional development activities.
 Collect, organize, and analyze data.
 Conduct interviews, observations, and focus groups.
 Provide technical assistance based on research and evaluation activities.
 Conduct literature reviews.
 Write reports, articles for publication, monthly website updates, grant components, and similar pieces.
 Communicate and collaborate with regional and national colleagues.
 Coordinate all aspects of IRB clearances and protocols.
 Represent the OSTRC at related meetings, workshops, conferences, and symposia.
 Complete other duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
 Bachelor?s degree in education, social work, children?s policy, or related field; masters degree preferred
 3-5 years of related experience.
 Strong background in out-of-school time, after-school, and/or youth development programming.
 Strong background in research theory, design, and implementation.
 Strong interest and/or background in staff support and professional development.
 Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills.
 Computer literacy and familiarity with SPSS (or similar data-entry software).
 Attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
 Self-direction and motivation.
 Interest in taking on new projects and initiatives.
