DATA SPECIALIST
Position Description
EducationWorks seeks a VISTA to serve as its Data Specialist to support the organization going to a new level in being data-driven. This VISTA will be responsible for gathering, compiling, and presenting data about EW?s programs, operations, impacts, and finances. Such data will be essential to organizational growth and development, program improvement, reports to funders, and proposals for funding. This VISTA will be one of five within EW and will report to the Executive Director through the Development Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Compile data from existing sources
a) Mine MIS systems used by EW to extract salient performance data
b) Compile fiscal data from accounting system
c) Gather data from program and fiscal reports to funders
2. Design new data sources
a) Analyze programs to identify data which can be generated efficiently
b) Work with staff to generate new data
3. Analyze data
a) Identify trends, strengths, warning signs, areas in need of improvement
4. Present data
a) Prepare tables, charts, graphs, spreadsheets, and expository reports
b) Orally present reports to management staff
REQUIREMENTS
Advanced proficiency in Excel
Proficiency in designing clear and compelling graphical presentations of data
Excellent writing skills
Understanding of urban education programs
Knowledge of accounting software is a plus

Living Allowance & Benefits: Monthly living allowance of $894; health care; partial child care; relocation allowance up to $500; edu. Award of $4,725 at completion of year; student loan forbearance & one year accrued interest paid on loans.
