People For People, a Not For-Profit 501 (c) 3 organization, founded by the Reverend Herbert H. Lusk, II, currently have an internship position available for qualified college students. People for People is the community outreach arm of Greater Exodus Baptist Church. Their mission is to create neighborhood revitalization through a strategy of comprehensive community development.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Intern

MISSION STATEMENT
People For People, Inc.?s (PFP) mission is to break the vicious, generational cycle of poverty in the lives of local residents by providing them with positive alternatives to gangs, drugs, welfare, and crime. Its goals include enhancing micro-enterprise development and community revitalization.

OVERVIEW
The Office of Development function is to assist in the advancement of PFP?s mission, which is to serve the residents of North Philadelphia and the greater Philadelphia area. More specifically, this office is charged with: 1) Raising money for the organization; 2) Creating new funding streams and sustainable business to support the organization; 3) Directing economic development; and 4) Organizing fundraisers and special events.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The intern will be instrumental in helping the Development Office reach its financial goals in 2007. More specifically, the intern will primarily be charged with coordinating logistics for two of our major fund raisers. In April 2007, the Stand For Africa Crusade will sponsor a major concert to help raise awareness and money for supporting children who have been orphaned by AIDS in Africa . In June 2007, People for People will host its annual Golf Tournament to raise money for our on-going operations. In addition, the intern will assist the organization with establishing a research mechanism to systematically identity grant and funding opportunities.

Other Duties as Follows:
? Ability to help create strategy for organizing and executing plans for the events.
? Meeting with vendors to ensure delivery of services provided in relation to events.
? Able to create and maintain timetable for event planning and execution.
? Enter donor information into a database.
? Conduct research to identify donors to help fund development initiatives.
? Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS
? Ability to work 20 hours per week in North Philadelphia Office.
? Some in-town travel may be required by car or public transportation.
? Ability to interact with clients and vendors.
? Have critical thinking skills and self-starter.
? Currently attending a college or university.
? Knowledge of computer software, particularly Microsoft Windows Applications including Word and Excel.
? Excellent analytical, communication, interpersonal, and information management skills.
? Excellent relationship building skills to motivate donors and professional staff.
? Able to dress in business attire.

This position will report directly to the Director of Development. The selected individual must be willing to learn new skills and be dedicated to eradicating poverty.
