ACORN is looking to hire immediately for the following positions: a PT Human Resources Assistant, a FT Political Organizer, and a FT community/schools organizer. ACORN is a grassroots community organization that works with low and moderate income communities to build power and win on progressive issues like health care, quality schools, and affordable housing. PT Human Resources Assistant
The Human Resources assistant will be responsible for recruiting a diverse group of people for organizing positions across the state, organizing training academies for new organizers, and working with local directors to create a comprehensive outreach program to universities, churches, job development organizations, and other networks.

The applicant must have excellent written, verbal, and computer skills. Our work environment is face paced and applicant must be able to multi-task and be accountable to goals. Commitment to social justice is a plus, although not required. Previous experience is a plus, although we will provide training.

The position starts at part-time, although there is the possibility that it will grow to a full time position, with benefits. The hours are flexible, although 5 hours/ day is required. FT Political Organizer
Make sure our community is represented in upcoming elections! The FT Political organizer will be responsible for increasing minority voter registration in targeted state representative districts across the state by working with paid crews and volunteers to build a comprehensive, issue based, voter mobilization program. Key issues will include: Quality Schools, Increasing the Minimum Wage, and Health Care.

Previous community organizing or political campaign experience is required, as is the ability to work with a diverse group of people, the ability to multi-task, daily access to a vehicle, and the desire to make progressive change in this country. FT Community & Schools Organizers
ACORN Organizers work with community members and parents to determine identify issues, train emerging leaders, build political power and enact campaign strategy to win improvements for low and moderate income people in Pennsylvania. Current campaign priorities include: Quality Schools, Affordable Housing, Fair Utilities, and an increase in the Minimum Wage. We are currently hiring for a variety of cities across the state.

Previous Organizing experience is required, as is the ability to work with a diverse group of people, the ability to multi-task, and a desire to make progressive social change in the country. Although not required, ability to speak Spanish and access to a vehicle are a plus. Starting salary is competitive at $25,000 with full benefits. FT Organizing Apprentices
This is ACORN’s entry level position. If you do not have organizing experience, but have a passion for social justice, a commitment to grassroots leadership and a desire to learn how to effectively create change, please apply for our Organizing Apprenticeship.

The Apprenticeship is paid, and provides trainees with the opportunity to learn the basics of community organizing (recruiting members, organizing direct action protests, building local relationships, working with the media, voter registration and more). At the same time, Apprentices are given the chance to be part of ACORN’s exciting campaigns to build power for working families across the state. After successful completion of the apprenticeship, graduates are offered the opportunity to join ACORN’s full time organizing staff across the state, in Harrisburg, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Erie, and Allentown.

Previous Organizing experience is NOT required, but applicants must have the ability to work in a fast paced environment and a passion for social and economic justice.
