Position Open: Educator, Pennsylvania History
HSP seeks an educator to develop materials and programs for a project on Pennsylvania ethnic history. This position requires knowledge in current teaching theory and the field of history and social studies or related field. Specialist will research, write, and assess curriculum development for HSP?s web site as well as help plan and execute outreach to teachers, on- and off-site including in-service workshops. Requires knowledge and/or experience in archival research and working with primary sources. Specialist will also participate in general duties required in running an education program. Education programming experience a plus. One year full-time position with possibility of renewal, contingent on funding.
Specific Responsibilities:
1. Develop and mount content. Includes research of collections, drafting lesson plans, coordination of site materials.
2. Manage web site maintenance and revision as necessary.
3. Help plan, coordinate, and run outreach to teachers especially in-service workshops.
4. Assist in general duties required in running education program.
5. Coordinate assessment of teachers and advisors.
6. Maintaining and expanding mailing lists and education contacts.
7. Assist in planning and implementing public programming.
8. Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
B.A. in history or closely related field (M.A. preferred). Two years of K-12 classroom experience or comparable training and experience. Familiarity with planning and writing lesson plans. Some web site experience necessary. Excellent computer skills required. Good communication skills, ability to work well collaboratively and in team environment essential. Some regional travel and evening/weekend hours required.
