Grade: E 3
Salary Range: $42,424 — $56,000 — $69,576
Reports to: Director, Policy, Planning & Public Engagement
Department: Community Impact
Position Summary: This position will manage the design and implementation of the public engagement activities associated with the Community Impact Plan, and will work with the corporate and non-profit sectors, as well as other communities, to educate target audiences about the Community Impact Plan, to engage community services, and to engage them in the issues and work of United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania.
The Public Engagement Unit at UWSEPA is charged with raising public awareness about United Way?s Community Impact Plan by mobilizing volunteers to meet community needs. The staff team is composed of individuals with a strong sense of mission who are self directed.
Job Responsibilities:
?Direct, plan and implement public engagement activities to educate the broader community about Community Impact and involve people in community impact issues. Represent UWSEPA on various committees, boards and present at trainings, etc. that align with the Community Impact and are of strategic importance to UWSEPA.
?Direct, plan and implement introductory and intensive public engagement opportunities that enhance people?s commitment to UWSEPA?s Community Impact Plan.
?Plan and conduct key informant interviews, community town halls, and other forums to gather information from community leaders, residents and providers to assist in the development and refinement of the Community Impact Plan
?Develop proposals to support Community Impact Plan and administer public engagement related grants. Manage $100,000 in project sponsorship.
?Oversee support and promotion of www.volunteerway.org: convening regional United Way and Volunteer Center partners, upgrading the site, and implementing a public awareness campaign to increase agency listings and users accessing the site.
?Other related duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications:
?Undergraduate degree or equivalent in business, communications, social work or related field that has developed knowledge and expertise of the social conditions that result in the United Way Community Impact Plan or has provided theory and practice skills related to public engagement. Master?s degree in related field preferred.
?At least five years of demonstrated public engagement experience; at least two years of supervisory experience.
?Demonstrated capacity for creative planning and implementation.
?Demonstrated high levels of organization and self-direction.
?Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong presentation and persuasive skills.
?Ability to work with diverse community groups, the corporate sector and in a fast paced environment.
?Ability and willingness for local travel.
