About the 2007 LSA Youth Organized for Disaster Action Training Grants
What are the criteria for the grants?
 there must be commitment to implement a service learning project focused on community/school safety during the 2007-2008 school year
 service learning project must show evidence that youth have been involved in the planning, implementation and evaluation of the project
 applicant must submit a 1 page project profile and financial status report by June 1, 2008
 funding is available at a minimum of $325 and a maximum of $1000 per project
 school may apply for a maximum of two training grants
 it is preferred (but not required) that applicant has the ability to secure some matching funds
 funding preference is given to schools who have not previously received Youth Organized for Disaster Action grants
Who is eligible?
Professional staff and youth from k-12 schools districts or individual schools including charter and private schools
Guidelines for the use of Training Grants:
 funds may be used for expenses directly related to attendance at the summer service learning institute in Philadelphia July 10 & 11, 2007
 allowable expenses include:
? registration
? hotel rooms at the Hyatt Regency Penn?s Landing
? transportation (airfare & ground)
? parking & mileage
? meals not covered by the institute
Other information that may be helpful in calculating your expenses:
 Mileage reimbursement – $0 .41per mile
 Meals ? Per diem for meals not included in Registration ? not to exceed $ 10 – Breakfast, $15- Lunch, $25- Dinner
 Lodging ? is allowable the Sunday night before the meetings begin and the last day of the meeting if necessary
How do you apply?
Submit title page, training request narrative and budget to the Institute for Global Education & Service Learning by June 15, 2007, no later than 4pm.
