    Guidelines Available for Arts Presenters/MetLife Foundation Award for Excellence in Arts Access
    Deadline: November 2006

    The Arts Presenters/MetLife Foundation Award for Excellence in Arts Access is a $10,000 cash award that honors an organization that has been consistently dedicated to the implementation and evolution of its arts access strategies throughout its institutional history — exemplifying both a dedication to arts access expressed through the mission of the organization and a willingness to change as communities change. The program is administered by the Association of Performing Arts Presenters (<a href="http://www.artspresenters.org/">http://www.artspresenters.org/</a>) and funded by the MetLife Foundation (<a href="http://www.metlife.org/">http://www.metlife.org/</a>).

    Performing arts presenting facilities in the United States open to the general public are eligible to apply for this award. This is not a grant application, and the award does not support plans to be implemented in the future.

    Award recipients will be evaluated according to the following criteria: the depth and consistency of accessibility present in the institution’s programs and activities; the quality of ongoing dialogue with and communication to audiences with disabilities and older adults; and the comprehensiveness of accessibility planning and integration of that planning into the overall vision of the organization in a way that also encourages the organization to go beyond compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

    Applications will only be accepted online. The online application will be available in September 2006.
