Community and Faith-Based Organizations

INTRODUCTION ? Temple University?s Center for Social Policy and Community Development (CSPCD) is proud to be one of 20 organizations selected in 2005 from around the country to offer capacity building and technical assistance opportunities to community and faith-based organizations through the Compassion Capital Demonstration Fund Program. We are pleased to announce our first round of applications for capacity building and technical assistance. Only organizations selected for capacity building and technical assistance will be eligible for sub-award funding upon completion of their capacity building plans.

PURPOSE ? The Building Leadership & Organizational Capacity (BLOC) program is designed to enhance capacity in North Philadelphia?s community and faith-based organizations by providing the following services free of charge to selected organizations:
v Competitive assistance to selected organizations to develop a capacity building plan
v Free technical assistance workshops to community and faith-based organizations
v Capacity-building sub-awards to selected faith-based and community organizations upon completion of organizational capacity building plans
v Development of peer-to-peer organizational support network

Qualifying organizations include faith-based and community organizations in North Philadelphia who are located in the following zip code areas: 19121, 19122, 19123, 19125, 19130, 19132, 19133 and 19140. Organizations must serve youth, have been in existence for at least one year, have a developed board structure or board list, commit two persons to participate, and have a formalized budget of no more than $400,000.

All applicants are required to attend a Bidder?s Conference to receive an application packet.
