AmeriCorps State Program Grant
Posted by on December 31, 2004
PennSERVE: The Governor’s Office of Citizen Service has issued a request for applications (RFA#-2005-ACS-1) for AmeriCorps State Program grants. Consistent with PennSERVE’s mission, the funding is designed to help organizations strengthen Commonwealth communities by implementing innovative service programs that address a compelling community need through the use of volunteer participants. According to recent AmeriCorps guidelines, "local needs drive AmeriCorps," and it is for that reason that you are uniquely qualified to identify and assist those organizations in your area that may be appropriate for funding.
PennSERVE promotes a bipartisan commitment at the state level in support of a comprehensive system of community service. Through grants, training and technical assistance, strong leadership and policy development, monitoring and evaluation, we seek to encourage and facilitate increased citizen participation and an ethic of service that will improve the quality of life in communities across our Commonwealth.
To access the grant application information, it is only necessary to visit our website at http://www.pennserve.state.pa.us. The deadline for submission is January 12, 2005.
We hope that you will carefully consider the role that local community service organizations can play in meeting the needs of your constituents, and the role that PennSERVE can play in supporting those efforts. Please do not hesitate to contact us if we can answer any questions or provide assistance.
