Peace Development Fund Offers Funding Through Challenge of Peace Program
Deadline: November 12, 2004
The Peace Development Fund (<a href="http://www.peacedevelopmentfund.org/">http://www.peacedevelopmentfund.org/</a>) makes grants to organizations and projects working to "achieve peaceful, just, and interdependent relationships among people and nations."
PDF is seeking proposals for its Challenge of Peace initiative, a one-time funding effort to support grassroots organizations working around four themes in the peace and social justice movements: erosion of civil liberties; immigrant detention; the United State’s role in the global community; and the human and economic cost of war.
Through this special round of grantmaking, PDF seeks to fund mobilization and leadership development among the poor, people of color, immigrants, veterans, and others historically left out of peace movements to develop new strategies and action for peace and justice; groups making the connection between the war in Iraq and their ongoing work; work around the erosion of civil liberties; INS detention work; countering military recruitment among poor communities and communities of color; work addressing the budget priorities of the U.S. government and educating people to think about where the money for war comes from and how these expenditures affect education, social services, and their daily lives.
Applicant organizations must be U.S.-based, and proposals must meet PDF’s application guidelines to be considered. Grants are expected to be in the $1,000 to $10,000 range.
See the Peace Development Fund Web site for complete application information.
