Grants Available for Local History Projects

The National Endowment for the Humanities is accepting applications for matching grants to support research, education, and public programs in local history, especially in communities underserved by humanities activities. Who is eligible: American nonprofit institutions that work wholly or in part with the humanities, including colleges and universities, historical sites and societies, museums, and public libraries. Preference will be given to institutions with annual budgets of less than $100,000 and to institutions setting up new endowments for humanities programs. Deadline for applications: February 3. Total amount to be awarded and number of awards: not specified. Amount of individual awards: $10,000 to $100,000 for up to three years.
