Elementary School Teachers Invited to Enter National Science Program to Receive Cash Awards for Science Classroom Materials – Deadline: December 16, 2002
Seeking to bolster U.S. elementary school science education, the Lysol brand has joined with the National Science Teachers Association (http://www.nsta.org/ ) for the second annual Lysol/NSTA Science and YourHealth Challenge program.
Lysol and NSTA created the Science and Your Health Challenge to encourage a greater number of elementary teachers to engage students in inquiry-based science lessons. The program invites K-6 teachers to develop hands-on, inquiry-based classroom projects to help their students explore science through health-related topics. A panel of NSTA judges will select the top forty inquiry-based lessons. Each teacher will receive a $1,500 award to purchase classroom science materials and attend a NSTA convention, where he or she will have the opportunity to participate in professional development experiences and connect with other teachers from around the country. Applicants must be certified K-6 classroom teachers; U.S. citizens; and teaching in a public or private school.
To obtain an application for the Lysol/NSTA Science and Your Health Challenge, visit the NSTA Web site.
