Digital Storytelling Intensive for Teachers and Youth Workers

One way or another, most community cultural projects are rooted in storytelling. Computer multimedia have lowered the threshold for people of all ages and walks of life to tell their stories effectively and movingly to classmates, family, friends, community members and the wider world.

This weeklong intensive introduction to digital storytelling is intended for teachers, youth workers and other community cultural leaders. At the core of this training week is the Center for Digital Storytelling’s renowned three-day, hands-on workshop for beginners. In a concentrated, guided process, each student will complete a three-to-five-minute multimedia presentation of a simple story. Introductory and concluding sessions will draw out the principles, methods, software tools, and curriculum issues that experienced technology educators and cultural organizers must consider when teaching the digital storytelling process in their own classrooms and community centers.
