About LVT
Land Value Taxation (LVT) reduces the tax levy off homes, production and business and onto the value of land sites. The structure of LVT secures a substantial and stable source of government revenue while providing incentive for the productive use of urban land. Twenty Pennsylvania municipalities and school districts have implemented this type of tax. Mayor Stephen Reed, 2006 US Mayor of the Year, credits LVT with being an essential tool in transforming his once fiscally troubled city of Harrisburg into a financially sound and stable city with an increasing commercial tax base and revived downtown.
About the Speaker
Joshua Vincent, Executive Director of The Center for the Study of Economics, is an authority on LVT and its implications. He has been an integral part of the processes that brought LVT to Harrisburg, Allentown, Altoona and other PA cities. Joshua will share his knowledge about LVT structures that revitalize our cities without increasing overall tax burdens. He will also discuss how LVT works with existing state and city redevelopment initiatives by directing development back into our urban centers.
