Online Training: Building Youth Literacy in Mentoring Programs
Posted by on March 5, 2007
LEARNS is pleased to offer a free online training session on Building Youth Literacy in Mentoring Programs to be held on Tuesday, March 6 at 11:00 a.m. Pacific time.
There are many ways mentors can interact with youth to encourage and develop the literacy skills crucial for personal and professional success. Join Randi Douglas and Erich Stiefvater of LEARNS for this hour-long, interactive discussion of ways for mentors to model and coach key literacy skills for youths in grades 5 through 12.
Designed for mentoring program directors, site coordinators, and mentors themselves, the webinar will cover:
1) Selected research on adolescent literacy
2) A four-part mentoring model for developing youth literacy
3) Activities that build and reinforce youth literacy
4) Resources for further learning and mentor training
To participate, you will need both a reliable Internet connection and a phone line to connect to a toll-free teleconference number. Space is limited and preregistration is required.
To register and receive connection information, please contact Erich at (800) 361-7890 or stiefvae@nwrel.org. Please provide your name, your program, and both a phone number and an email address we can use to contact you if needed.
Thank you, and we hope you will join us.
Best regards,
The LEARNS Partners
