Organic Conference Promotes a Sustainable Connecticut

See http://www.ctnofa.org for complete program.

The Connecticut chapter of the Northeast Organic Farming Association (CT NOFA) will host its annual Cultivating an Organic Connecticut Conference on Saturday, March 10, 2007 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. at Windsor High School in Windsor, CT, just 5 miles north of Hartford. The event is open to the public, includes a hopeful keynote address by Nancy Jack Todd and John Todd, and features over 30 workshops, an organic marketplace, and a potluck lunch.

The event is brought to you by United Natural Foods and will be ?powered by? green energy generated in eastern Connecticut and donated to the grid on our behalf by Sterling Planet. Additional sponsors include Harrington?s Organicare in Windsor, Connecticut.

The keynote address will be given by environmental pioneers Nancy Jack Todd and John Todd. Founders of New Alchemy Institute and later Ocean Arks Institute, their talk, The Promise of Ecological Design, will focus on ecological design principles that will convince you it is possible to create a sustainable society even in the 21st century.

Choose from over 30 workshops on farming, gardening, and sustainable living, including seasonal cooking, green building, heating with Biodiesel, and maintaining the health of Connecticut?s rivers. Our marketplace will feature local produce, honey, maple syrup, and cider from NOFA farmers (yes, you can buy local food in the winter!) and organic products from local artisans. Bring a dish (and your own place setting) for a delicious potluck lunch, and support CT NOFA by participating in our teacup raffle.

Volunteers are welcome. Receive $10 off your registration fee by becoming a part of our team for the day. Free child care is available for children ages 3 to 12, with advanced registration. For more information or to register for the conference, contact Bill Duesing at 203-888-5146 or e-mail ctnofa@ctnofa.org. Online registration is available at http://www.ctnofa.org.
