Call for Proposals: Afterschool for All Children
Posted by on January 8, 2007
The U.S. Department of Education, in partnership with the C.S. Mott Foundation and the National Partnership for Quality Afterschool Learning, is once again calling for presentation proposals for its 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) 2007 Summer Institute, Afterschool for All Children. This year, the Institute is scheduled from July 17-19, 2007, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel and Miami Convention Center, in Miami, Florida. This year’s theme will focus on designing and implementing age-appropriate afterschool programming for all elementary, middle and high school age students.
The National Partnership for Quality Afterschool Learning is again assisting the Department of Education in planning for this year’s institute. We invite you and others in your program/organization to submit a proposal for one of the concurrent sessions for consideration. The Institute will feature presentations that provide high-quality learning opportunities for after-school practitioners in the academic content areas, complemented by sessions that promote the development of a vision, getting results, strategic financing, building organizational and community support, and strategic planning.
The theme of the 2007 Summer Institute underscores the importance of providing services to all students including children with disabilities and the delivery of programming appropriate to each of the three grade levels. There continues to be pressure on afterschool programs to produce successful student outcomes and to sustain themselves. Therefore, we must ensure that all students most in need are accessing quality afterschool programs and thus having positive social interactions and learning through a variety of experiences in supportive environments.
The deadline for submissions is February 1, 2007. Proposals will only be accepted electronically and must be submitted online to Synergy Enterprises, Inc. the conference organizer. Information you will need for submitting a proposal can be found at http://www.sei2003.com/21stcentury/requestforproposals/. If you have questions about the submission process, please contact Jerry Elder at the National Partnership for Quality Afterschool Learning at SEDL. jelder@sedl.org (512) 476-6861, Ext. 215.
We look forward to receiving your proposals.
