Tutor/Mentor Connection Conference

The issues surrounding poverty, such as youth violence, substance abuse, poor schools, etc. are topics I’m sure many of you and your peers write about every week. There are less opportunities to write about solutions.

On Nov. 30 the Tutor/Mentor Connection will host a one-day conference in Chicago. We’re inviting writers to use blogs to lead a nationwide discussion of the issues we’ll be discussing in Chicago. You can read the agenda and find some of the research that we’re referring to, at http://www.tutormentorconference.bigstep.com

We will only have capacity for 100 people at the Chicago conference, but if a few writers would like to attend and write about what we’re discussing, or blog it, I’d be happy to provide a scholarship for you to attend (the fee is only $40).

However, you don’t need to attend to write about these issues from your perspective, and to draw December attention to youth serving organizations in poverty neighborhoods who need year-end donations to fuel 2007 work.

If you’re already writing these stories, just provide a link to your site or your story on the Tutor/Mentor Blog, or in the Discussion forum at http://www.tutormentorconnection.org so we can aggregate the many stories into one much larger message.
